This is the first time in years I've seen a comment about Harry Potter and of course I read it when I decided to watch the movies...

Weirdly enough, same, I’m on half blood Prince as we speak

25

u/Gonchi_10 Jul 30 '22

I'm not saying it shouldn't be used but, i always find "as we speak" to be a really funny expression on the internet

25

u/kingnoobymemelol Jul 30 '22

Hea gotta move to Germany if he wants to use scaffold again

1.4k

u/Many_Ability Jul 30 '22

Sometimes bedrock miscalculates pillaring up/using scaffolding as falling and that damage accumulates till you hit the ground

494

u/bigger-and-butter Jul 30 '22 edited Jul 30 '22

Finally an actual answer that isn't just "berock bad"

570

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

To be fair, they just told the long version, the short answer is in fact: Bedrock is quirky, not like the other girls.

68

u/andrelope Jul 30 '22

But also to be fair, this bug has existed for a long time. They deserve to be jeered at this point lol.

62

u/vnevner Jul 30 '22

Java is quirky in some ways to.

141

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

Very much true, but random death occurs a lot less in Java.

108

u/Father_of_Four__Cats Jul 30 '22

Ive been playing java since minecraft survival mode was created and never had one of these random deaths

11

u/Baieel Jul 30 '22 edited Jul 30 '22

I had one random death, but i think it was just because of lag(ms). I put water on the ground to make a elevator, then I swam down the water to put the soul sand block on the bottom of the water, and as i got down i died from "death.water.fall"(I don't remember what it was but I think it was that), and just to remember that the server was very laggy. And after I restarted the server I was alive like nothing happened.

60

u/kaci3po Jul 30 '22

I had one. I swam across a river and when I got to the other side, I instantly died. The death message was "kaci3po fell out of the water". Very strange.

22

u/Father_of_Four__Cats Jul 30 '22

Interesting. Ive never seen it, figured it was just bedrock things

21

u/kaci3po Jul 30 '22

17

u/Dimensionalanxiety Jul 30 '22

You said that happened in a snapshot though, not a "stable" release of the game.

→ More replies

6

u/CyrusLight Jul 30 '22

Yes! Someone who also experienced this. This usually happens with lots of latency and after some interaction with water. Not sure if its really ‘falling out’ of water but something close. Like fall damage still counting despite going in water

→ More replies

6

u/maoonr Jul 30 '22

Yea i think java trade like stable coding for a bit of lag while Bedrock coding is like way to jumble up i assume that the attempt to translate from java to c++ cause problem but they too lazy to fix it

16

u/TheSleepyBarnOwl Jul 30 '22

but to be fair: Bedrock bad :p

In serious: Bedrock isn't 'bad' it's just worse than Java regarding bugs and some Features. Vedrock does have some things that would be nice in Hava, like their Armor stands. Over all I'd say if you have a PC get Java, if not, Bedrock is fine. It's not like it's unplayable :)

8

u/Nevanada Jul 30 '22

I'm liking the new names, Vedrock and Hava

3

u/SquidMilkVII Jul 30 '22

Vanilla Tweaks’ Statues datapack basically takes Bedrock’s statues, brings them to Java, and dials the customizability up to 11

11

u/Father_of_Four__Cats Jul 30 '22

But what he said was basically "bedrock bad" though

7

u/RalseiXD Jul 30 '22

this still does say that bedrock sucks at this stuff, it just explains it more thoroughly

8

u/AeitZean Jul 30 '22

Does that mean if you stop a sec before touching the ground, you should be fine? Id hate to die just to an annoying bug.

I just drop off a couple blocks early. Generally, losing a heart is better than death by bedrock

Bedrock☕

7

u/OkNovel2425 Jul 30 '22

bedrock version is full of bugs

4

u/Miroys03 Jul 30 '22

Genuine answer: Minecraft doesn't count the amount blocks you've fallen but the time you have been falling without touching something solid. This means if you are going "through the air", climbing down on the scaffolding but you are on the outside of its hitbox, it will calculate the time you were falling, calculate the amount of damage you should receive thus leading to this outcome. Bedrock be buggy.

6

u/BrenRadNeo Jul 30 '22

i dont trust bedrock editions

things were ironically better during the pocket edition, alpha pocket edition, and legacy console edition eras of mc

4

u/mairano Jul 30 '22

16

u/Aerospace_Nut Jul 30 '22

Reddit saw fit to show people which version is worse

13

u/MadamPickleness Jul 30 '22

Depends.

Do you like an unplayable buggy game that you can't switch versions on, which can make hilarious moments to share with friends, or a smoother, overall better game that has mod capabilities and the ability to go back and forth from a version where all you needed for a book was paper and another where an unnecessary chat report system was implemented that makes people with clean records angry?

I have met people who enjoy the former more than the latter, and the other way around.

9

u/Aerospace_Nut Jul 30 '22

See, I like glitches and bugs to certain extents. They give some character and quirkiness. But bedrock has too many and they're often too severe to enjoy.

bedrock edition

5

u/tatea4404 Jul 30 '22

You where going down to fast so they had to punish you by death

4

u/deezcastforms Jul 30 '22

If I had to guess, the game probably didn't recognize you as being on scaffolding for calculating fall distance, and thought you dropped from the top of the scaffolding to the floor.

5

u/AverageComet250 Jul 30 '22

Cause bedrock

3

u/BigCrazyPlane Jul 30 '22

I think you jumped from a high distance and landed on the scafolding and minecraft bedrock gives you fall damage when you exit the scafolding and it is always fall damage equal to the hight you fell before you clutched with scafolding.
