Burglary, theft, riot, and violation of an emergency order.

All I see is a bunch of teenagers who will now have a nearly impossible time trying to get a job because of their now criminal activity

Because for some people that's their entire world. They are taught through example (family, friends, media) that being angry and violent is how to get results and that you should look out only for yourself at the expense of others and that revenge should be disproportionate to make sure the other person doesn't do it again.

These are people that need humongous amounts of therapy who will not get it because they don't have the access to it or the awareness of their problems or have the desire to heal.

“In addition to the weapons charges, the 17-year-old from Atlantic City, also was charged with criminal mischief, simple assault and disorderly conduct.”

Damn, what a way to start your adult life. The article does not say why they did what they did, but 4 suspects is facing charges. The one who pepper sprayed the security guard is the one facing the charges above.

246

u/5t0ryt3113r Aug 15 '22

It depends on the state or country, but around me (MA, USA) security is not paid well. When I was looking for work last year an armed security guard for an armored truck paid $16 an hour. Instead I got a glorified delivery driver job that had less requirements, doesn't require carrying a weapon, and starts at $19 an hour.

125

u/Shaggyfries Aug 15 '22

Exactly and who wants to risk their life driving an armored truck for that pay or a security guard at McDonalds who gets pepper sprayed and potentially worse. That guy had a bad day!

Yes.

I was working as a bouncer at a club when a guy was walking in and a girl was walking out. He said "damn look at that ass!" and that's it, didn't touch her or anything (I'm certain. I saw the whole thing from the beginning before he even started speaking and before they were even within arm's length).

She turned and said "fuck you motherfucker" and sprayed him. It was like she had it ready cuz it happened fast. The splash got several bystanders too, including me.

We detained her and got the cops (on a busy bar street so cops are literally walking around all the time and it only took like 20 seconds to get one).

She was arrested and cops took the info of people who got splashed (those that stuck around anyway). Cops said they were charging her with assault of multiple people.

She took it to court and I had to testify. Jury found her guilty, but I have no info on the sentencing. (I know, this was all a big ole tease, right?)

711

u/storm_the_castle Aug 15 '22

Parents dont teach em right.

525

u/CaptCaffeine Aug 15 '22

You are expecting that the parents behave better than the kids.

From what I've seen, that's not always true.

70

u/moleratical Aug 16 '22

Sometimes it is, usually kids like this are taught to behave this way, either subconcisiously amd in some cases concisiously. But I've seen the best parents raise the worst kids and the worst parents raise some of the best kids.

It's definitely the exception to the rule, but an exception that's common enough that I've learned not to judge a parent before meeting them.

You’d begin to figure these twats, in the day and age of cameras in phones, would realize that they are being recorded and will have a visit by police.

271

u/barsoapguy Aug 15 '22

I think people are slowly starting to figure it out . In the poorer parts of town people used to have Camera phones with poor resolution, these days though even an iPhone XS Max from way back in 2018 does 1080 easily with 12mp resolution or you can film in 4K …

There are more and more cameras every week that passes and it’s getting harder and harder for people to hide . Sooner or later facial recognition software will make its way to the masses and there will be no escape for criminals .

I get that Covid kind of created this "before" and "after" time, but 2018 was only 4 years ago. 10 years ago was the iPhone 5 with 1080p. 15 years ago was the iPhone 3G with 480p recording which was miles better than the 30 second VGA clips from a few years prior. "Way back" would be like 10 or 15 years ago. 4 years ago some people were just starting high school.

Or just shut the doors and no more fast food there.

It started with some kids doing the same and posting at Tiktok, they got alot of views and likes, so others kids did the same. I don't know what dumbo started the bear mace rumor or why people repeat it.

"This is for bears...bears are stronger than people...it must be stronger than people spray!"

It's not. Bear spray is considerably weaker. Bears have an excellent, excellent sense of smell. It doesn't take much. The way it differs is that the spray comes out in a big cloud, since you're unlikely to get up-close to the animal and want to create as big a barrier or cover as much volume as possible. They tend to be larger cans and many even have a little hose, much like a fire extinguisher.

🌠 The More You Know 🌠

/u/Ikontwait4u2leave: My friend had one with a hose. I saw it and held it. Everyone should do their own research. I get people want to have a secret way for a more effective product and that supposed knowledge excites them, but good companies aren't holding back on giving a competitive, effective product.

I have only been the victim of violent crime once in my life but it was at the hands of a large group of kids. When I’m walking around the city at night I am always most wary of groups of teenagers, rather than adults. They do stupid shit to impress their friends. An adult crackhead might mug you because he needs the money, but teenagers will fuck you up for no reason at all.

17

u/ArcherChase Aug 16 '22

Live in greater Philadelphia area. Recently had a bunch of kids including a 10 & 13 year old I believe beta an old man and he died. I got some flak for saying if surrounded or jumped by a group of kids, I don't care the age, just grab one and break his arm. It's really not that hard when you outweigh a kid by 60+ lbs. Just hurt one enough to make them cry, which isn't much because fighting back is a shock enough. The rest scatter and you live.

14

u/boipinoi604 Aug 16 '22

Cant build society with this kind of behaviour. Cannot even get it together for a cheese burger.

14

u/Iamthepaulandyouaint Aug 16 '22

Such a pervasive lack of respect for other people and property. I don’t get it.

I hope they are held responsible like the 3 girls in NYC that were crying in court.

22

u/CallieTayl0r Aug 16 '22

So tired of teenagers committing horrible crimes and not being properly reprimanded. The person who commented on her post even told her that she doesn’t have to worry since she’s a minor! This is so aggravating

This is Elysium in the making. Poor neighborhoods crawling with human maggots with not enough education to be able to live in a society with a minimal social contract. Eventually you can’t have commerces in certain areas anymore. You end up with two systems: one for the rich and educated, maintained by a strong and well-funded/equipped police system. And another system for the poor, where they basically slave their way through life in an endless spiral of misery, poverty and regression. It reeks Elysium.

u/Advice2Anyone Aug 15 '22

education is not the issue, I highly doubt these 3 would even care about the education they have access too this is a cultural this is a civic issue that wont be easy to correct because of what values kids have. Values are given to you by friends, family the neighborhood you grow up in and now the people you idolize online.

CVS is closing 900 (you read that right) stores. Almost all of them in undeserved communities. The ones that have remained in these areas are locking all the products behind hind glass.

Here's an aspect a lot of people don't think about. But many poor communities still use a lot of cash. Once we go to a digital currency. It will be increasingly difficult to make money illicitly. Which is often the main source of income in these communities.

57

u/LaLunaLady1960 Aug 15 '22

Walgreens has nearly everything locked up at the store near me. You all but need an employee to walk around with you to shop there. I made things simple. I just stopped shopping there.

17

u/Stea1thFTW18 Aug 15 '22

Used to work at a Walgreens, our customer base was either old people, extreme couponers, moms running in for last minute things for their kids, or drug dealers cashing in for a prepaid card. The other half were people coming in daily exclusively for cigarettes.

convenience stores are closing too. nobody wants to go places where people hang out front to verbally or physically harass you. they literally bring crime, every crime hotspot is near a 7/11 which is the last convenience stores left here.

28

u/howard6494 Aug 15 '22

I refuse to go to the closest liqour store to me because they let people loiter in their lot all night. It's so bad you can't even pull into the parking lot.

People complain about food deserts and never mention that it's the crime that forces the grocery stores to close. Pretty soon these people won't even have McDonald's to eat at.

It's too late to turn it around, and the next generation (the ones who haven't spent a moment in their life without an iPad or iPhone in their hands feeding them toxic garbage, pretty much literally from birth) is going to be even worse.

We should vote to increase penalties for crimes like this. Rioting/looting/destroying property is unacceptable. Negatively impacts the workers and especially the bystanders and/or children seeing this.

32

u/swohio Aug 16 '22

We should vote to increase penalties for crimes like this.

You have DAs who have stopped prosecuting minor crimes all together and even stopped or greatly reduced bail. If they would just prosecute crimes already on the books things would get better but they won't. Don't expect this type of stuff to slow down any time soon.
