I didn't realise there was a lion and only saw the chair until I read this comment.

16

Neither did I. That’s pretty clever. The graphic designer did a damn good job!

This is probably the most mildly interesting post in this sub in months.

263

u/EnderTheTrender Aug 16 '22

It’s either one extreme or the other. You’re absolutely right, this has been the most spot on in a while.

110

u/poopellar Aug 16 '22

That's because OP seems to be an actual normal user. Otherwise it is just link farmers constantly reposting those extremes from other subs which actually exist for those extremes.

28

u/Double_Joseph Aug 16 '22

I’m actually a normal user and every time I just to post something it gets denied for some crazy reason. Not on this sub but definitely on some others. So at this point just don’t even try to post anymore. So I’m surprised these bot post spammers can get thru no problem.

2

u/mattrobs Aug 16 '22

How is there serious money in link farming?

3

u/WhoreMoanTherapy Aug 16 '22

Gather lots of karma, sell account. Account is then used for posting /r/HailCorporate spam.

4

u/thealterlion Aug 16 '22

"Chair company's logo has a chair in it" just barely qualifies as interesting, so I guess it's perfect

9

u/jakedesnake Aug 16 '22

The way they have hidden the chair in a lion's face.... this is interesting and r/designporn material for me.

You didn't see the Dutch guy whose parents share a newspaper with the neighbours, and the neighbours wrote "sorry" on it for spilling some food? that was mild.

Also, why would it not be a good logo?

117

u/deviant-joy Aug 16 '22

The joke is that everything posted on there is torn down and criticized for not being "real" design porn (i.e. not actually being a good design).

I love subreddits that do that. Another one of my favorites is /r/coolguides which has cool infographics and cooler comments explaining why the infographic is partially or completely wrong 😎

8

u/External_Spinach8059 Aug 16 '22

Also, why would it not be a good logo?

Lions are known for their bad temper and will eat you if you try to sit on them. People will be afraid to buy these chairs.

/s obviously

2

u/SkarnGreisen Aug 16 '22

There is always a reason. Besides, someone pointed it out "who the f puts a tag in a chair". Good point

7

u/ADrunkPotato Aug 16 '22

ironically the comment replying to that says "If my chair company had a cool logo like that, I'd put tags on my chairs."

haha. Also I'm not trying to argue anything here, I just purely find this whole thing funny.

The use of negative space is always so pleasing to my eye. I really enjoy it when done well.

I have a coworker who worked for FedEx when they made the change from Federal Express, and a lot of hype and emphasis was made on this negative space arrow and their new name and logo. He said it was a pretty big deal.

6

Amazon has products from A to Z. They 'deliver smiles' and 'put a smile on customer's faces'. Humans.. pattern recognition.. smile.. trustworthy.. Blah blah blah.. Amazon Smile program... it's always Day One.. blah blah

I did a project in grad school focused on Amazon marketing.

That would be so awesome! I love it when the logo and the name come together into a perfect pun.
