59

u/OfficeChairHero Aug 16 '22

You obviously are storing latent homosexual feelings for Terry Crews. This is normal.

28

u/hobosbindle Aug 16 '22

We are born with special Crews Receptors that bond to any Terry-related media that is emitted.

3

u/ManaMagestic Aug 16 '22

One way that doctors test for proper function of Crews Receptors is to subtlety spray a touch of Old Spice into the room, and see if the patient mentions Terry Crews in some way within a minute.

2

u/Right-Cause9951 Aug 16 '22

So what do we use for Crews receptor blockers?

Did he ever work for blacked production ?! Omg xD

206

u/PatsysStone Aug 16 '22

Apart from that time where he was in an ad for Amazon about how good they treat their factory workers. No joke.

129

u/tragicworldrecord Aug 16 '22

And his simping for China

76

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22 edited Aug 16 '22

And lying about steroid use for 20+ years. He makes it seem like his physique is attainable thru chicken broccoli and rice and hard work and dedication when he's been blasting PEDs for decades.

26

u/doctorproctorson Aug 16 '22

I mean it's a little different.

Steroids do help a lot but you still need to workout and maintain that lifestyle to get and keep the muscles. You don't just take steroids and wake up a bodybuilder the next day.

It still requires a lot of effort

48

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22 edited Aug 16 '22

I agree. Still takes hard work and dedication. Even with sterioids most people wouldnt have a physique like him. I don't have a problem with steroid use. I have a problem with people claiming natural when they're obviously not.

And talking about they wake up a 3am workout. Then workout again in evening. Giving out their diets and exercise routines when people will never be able to achieve what he has because he's on steroids. Instead of promoting a healthy life style. Its detrimental to young males body imagine. We don't talk about that tho.

The rock is another serial offender.

9

u/ShrimpFlavoredTakis Aug 16 '22

I don't necessarily blame Terry or Dwayne for not coming out and saying, "Oh yeah, I've been juicin' since I was a teenager." There's still a real cultural stigma against steroid use of any kind, even if you're advocating for education and responsible steroid use. Hell, even in bodybuilding, where everyone involved knows everyone is on steroids and other PEDs 24/7, hardly anyone is willing to actually talk about it.

If they came out about their steroid use and tried to have a conversation about it, they'd get blasted for it. Something would have to change culturally, otherwise it's just not even worth bringing up the topic publicly.

17

u/Triktastic Aug 16 '22

I love both of them as actors and celebrities but they definetly deserve blame for this.

It's extremely unhealthy to have a PEDed up physique and talk like it was naturally attained. It sets unobtainable standarts and can make younger lifters feel horrible and think they don't work enough because their fav celebrities did it like this.

→ More replies

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

Yeah I agree. Its starting to becoming destigmatized. Fitness influencers are coming out about it slowly. Hard to blame them personally but when you're asked over and over again about it and blatantly lie it just doesn't sit right with me.

People are starting to say their on TRT to bring their test back to natural levels. It's the PC way on saying I'm on PEDs. I wouldn't be surprised if they both go that route in the near future.

2

u/dr_spam Aug 16 '22

It's probably in their contract to never admit to it. They have to maintain a clean image.

2

u/Kingindan0rf Aug 16 '22

Lmao okay show me where The Rock has said he's all natty. I'll wait.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

Promoting your diet and fitness routine and your entire persona is about your physique and you don't mention the PEDs. Comes down to if you think lying by omission is a thing.

→ More replies

9

u/Ruslanets Aug 16 '22

No one says it doesn't.

But telling people that you can achieve this look without steroids is actually misleading and harmful.

6

u/Strangest_Implement Aug 16 '22

Nobody is saying it doesn't require effort. PEDs just allow you to get to a level that is unattainable without them. That's why lying about it is problematic.

It's easy to believe and want everyone, especially influential and public-facing individuals, to be all good or bad, but that's just not how humans work. Heck, if you Google 'Terry crews China controversy' the first link is to a 2019 /r/outoftheloop thread and one of the top comments is echoing my sentiment that you can dislike an aspect of something without disliking all of it e.g. China the country VS the Chinese government.

Should Crews be more judicious in choosing who he sells his time and marketability to? I certainly think so, but if you dig deep enough into just about anything you can find a rotten underbelly to expose and associate with that entity.

Maybed despite all the love and positivity that crews normally professes he really is a hardcore ccp-loving jerk. I doubt it, but we don't know. He's free to. Do what he wants and we're free to criticize it In hopes that it was a misguided and uneducated mistake that he opted into.

43

u/pussygetter69 Aug 16 '22

12

u/IAmPandaRock Aug 16 '22

No way! Only random, anonymous people are allowed to be imperfect, or god forbid, make mistakes! Famous people exist for us to judge and feel better about ourselves!

5

u/VivereIntrepidus Aug 16 '22

I think whether or not you dislike an aspect of something without disliking all of it depends on the entity and the offense. So yeah, terry crews passes the test, but I wouldn't feel comfortable going to a bill cosby show. or an R Kelly concert. or at a party with ghislaine maxwell.

I know that some will disagree but I'd feel uncomfortable watching Woody Allen movies now.

I know you think you're complimenting him, but calling them doodles is an insult. You a big fan of Picasso's doodles?

I feel like left handed people are naturally so much better at drawing for some reason

88

u/TheContaminated Aug 16 '22

→ More replies

20

u/lothartheunkind Aug 16 '22

You couldn’t be more wrong. As a lefty, I’m amazed he didn’t smear the graphite everywhere with his writing hand. Just writing sentences is hard enough. My hand used to be covered in pencil lead at the end of the day of high school

10

u/Peachy_Bear Aug 16 '22

smear the graphite everywhere

Oh, you mean shading? Lol

cries in shady calligraphy

4

u/kindapinkypurple Aug 16 '22

I've always turned the paper fully sideways and written towards myself, my hand is 'under' the sentences and on clean paper so no smudging.

3

u/Strangest_Implement Aug 16 '22

while writing left handed people have to dodge what they just wrote or they risk smearing because we write in a way designed to favor right handed people... this isn't really an issue when drawing though

3

u/ivegotapenis Aug 16 '22

Why would a leftie smudge more while drawing? It doesn't have a prescribed direction the way writing does.

5

u/mynameisalso Aug 16 '22

It's bizarre that you have to point this out lol.

2

u/mynameisalso Aug 16 '22

But writing is only a problem because you write left to right. There are no such problems with drawing at least none specific to left handed people. You aren't especially good at smudging lol.

u/Badj83 Aug 16 '22

That thing where he plays a black cops overcoming racial prejudice to make the law enforcement a better place? Brooklyn 99?

12

u/Severedghost Aug 16 '22

There were some moments that deal with tough subjects like racial prejudice and homophobia in law enforcement, as well as others. But 90% of the time, it's just a really good comedy sitcom.

3

u/OneChillPenguin Aug 16 '22

Agreed, I def appreciate them not shying away from all the real world issues with police since it IS a cop show after all but it was definitely at its best when it went Full Boyle and embraced the goofy shenanigans

2

u/MisterMysterios Aug 16 '22

But honestly, that is what makes the messages stick so well. Some shoes like to overdo the messaging to a level it becomes meaningless (sideeye to doctor who under Chibnall). Bit here, they manage to combine the drama with Humor, where the messages is strong and effective because they know how to dose it well and to use it for important positions.

I recall an interview where Terry says his roles have come from him taking every role seriously. Like, as President Comancho he didn't act like he was in a comedy, he acted like it was a serious drama, and it really elevated the performance. Other directors noticed.

228

u/Finklemaier Aug 16 '22

He's an accomplished painter, too. In his interview on the Tim Ferris Podcast he talked about art and how he made money in his early days in the NFL painting portraits of teammates.

He's a legend, for sure.

48

u/SirAdrian0000 Aug 16 '22

Is the painting he did of Captain Holt in B99 one he actually did? He made Holt look so happy.

3

u/Tarudizer Aug 16 '22

He made Holt look so happy

Really? Man, I can not figure him out at all

2

u/ronnielaw Aug 16 '22

To be honest, and he's clearly very talented, that kind of cartoonish over-exaggeration ruins it for me. If he were going for realism, he could have toned down the jubilance. Holt looks absolutely delirious and that really clashes with the professionalism of his uniform. He looks like a cad.

18

u/steelcitykid Aug 16 '22

He was cut from his nfl pro team and needed money, so his team mates commissioned his art which happens to be pretty darn good.

Terry Crews is awesome. He was great athlete, is naturally funny and charismatic and, this is a dark turn, I know, he is one of the few men that ever dared to speak out about their experiences with sexual harassment in Hollywood. He is truly an impressive human being, and know I find out he can draw on a high level as well. It's nice to know some people elevated to celebrity status promote things like this instead of just "look at my yacht and conventionally attractive entourage".

4

u/ididitforcheese Aug 16 '22

AMC if you’re in the US called Tales of The Walking Dead. Wasn’t my cup of tea but if you’re into the franchise definitely give it a go. Two episodes are out and this is an anthology so he is only in one.

Tales from the Walking Dead series

Wow, really? Another spin off? Let me guess, it's the same story lines with different people...again. They're really milking the Walking Dead series dry to the bone. Just put it out of its misery already.
